Nuki has joined Works with Home Assistant. The Home Assistant team certified three Matter-over-Thread locks — Smart Lock Go, Smart Lock Pro, and Smart Lock Ultra — against the Home Assistant Matter integration. Official post: https://www.home-assistant.io/blog/2025/07/03/nuki-joins-works-with-home-assistant/. Like other Works with devices, these locks are specified to prioritize local control, so day-to-day door management does not depend on a cloud connection.
The program is operated by the Open Home Foundation and funded by Home Assistant Cloud subscribers. Products are tested in-house, and joining companies commit to long-term support and firmware updates. Setup, calibration, and Matter activation still go through the Nuki app. The blog states there is no hard requirement for a cloud account or registration. Once the lock is on Matter, it can be managed from Home Assistant, and the app can be deleted.
Only those three models are officially tested and certified. Home Assistant notes that most Nuki locks will work via Matter and that some older locks were tried with good results, but unlisted hardware has not been through the program. Certification used a Home Assistant Yellow with its built-in Thread border router and the certified Matter integration. Other hubs are not ruled out; that was the test setup. Remote access, if needed, is described as the Nuki app or a Home Assistant system such as Home Assistant Cloud.
